Associate Professor in the Department of Nursing and Physiotherapy at UAH (2021-present). Member of the Community Care and Social and Health Determinants Group (CUYDET, 2021-present). My research interests include the study of normal and/or pathological patterns of functional and structural connectivity in the aging stage. In addition, I am interested in how these anatomical-functional changes might be affected by the genetic risk of Alzheimer’s disease in study subjects, as well as analyzing other biochemical parameters that may contribute to impaired neural network functioning (e.g., neuroinflammation, elevated cortisol levels, decreased neurotrophic factors, etc.). I have also conducted studies exploring the potential protective effect of non-pharmacological therapies, such as cognitive training, against the development of dementia in individuals with a genetic predisposition. My current interests focus on studying health care throughout the life cycle as well as healthy lifestyle factors (e.g., nutrition, physical activity, sleep patterns, etc.) as protective mechanisms that may promote successful aging.
